Patients are usually referred to physicians when they have conditions that are difficult to diagnose or need expert medical management for complex diseases. Close follow up and good management can prevent further deterioration and complications.

A first consultation includes a comprehensive history taking and medical examination with an electrocardiogram, blood glucose measurement, urine dipstix and peak expiratory flow rate. If necessary further investigations such as imaging (X-rays, CT scans etc.) or blood tests may be requested. A diagnosis and a treatment plan will be established as part of your care.

Dr Singh covers the Emergency department at Cape Town Mediclinic and patients that are acutely sick and unwell can come into the casualty at any time to be seen and admitted to the ward for Dr Singh to manage.

In today’s increasingly busy world we may need to have a consultation but can’t make it in person for a variety of travel-limiting reasons. Online consultations are available on request.

An electrocardiogram and blood glucose testing are done at consultation. Diabetic patients are offered free glucose testing devices to monitor glucose levels at home. These are state of the art glucometers and are subject to availability.
